A national origin discrimination class action lawsuit on behalf of 149 Latino workers was settled for $4.3 million the EEOC announced Tuesday, "Court Approves Payment of $4.3 Million to Hispanic Workers In EEOC Lawsuit Against B & H Foto." The lawsuit claimed that Hispanics were paid less than non-Hispanics, were not promoted because they were Hispanic and were denied health insurance and other benefits because they were Hispanic. 

National origin discrimination occures where someone is treated less favorably because he or she comes from a particular place, because of his or her ethnicity or accent, or because it is believed that he or she has a particular ethnic background. National origin discrimination also means treating someone less favorably at work because of marriage or other association with someone of a particular nationality.
