A class action suit charging sex discrimination has been filed against Toshiba on behalf of all women that are or have worked for the company in the United States. The suit includes the following allegations:

• women are underpaid and their path to promotions impeded
• women are subjected to stricter discipline and different rules than men
• the company fails to respond adequately to discrimination complaints
• the promotion process is dependent on subjective discussions rather than equal opportunity and merit

The case was filed in federal district court in Manhattan.
