A whistleblower, who claimed he was fired for reporting fraudulent activities by his supervisor, won a $3.5 million jury verdict in a wrongful termination case in Anchorage, Alaska. Paul Blakeslee was in charge of running large maintenance projects at two military installations in Alaska. He learned that his supervisor was funneling some of the project's equipment leasing business to a company he owned and passing the bills on to the federal government. The issue came to a head on a Friday and Blakeslee was fired the following Monday. The jury awarded Blakeslee $445,574 in lost wages, $486,458 in damages for emotional distress and $2.5 million in punitive damages.
