$95 Million Sexual Harassment Verdict

A federal district court jury in southern Illinois has awarded a sexual harassment victim a verdict of $95 million, $15 million in compensatory damages and $80 million in punitive damages.  The company is Aaron's Inc., the rent-to-own company.  The employee, Ashley Alford, proved to the jury that she was sexually assaulted by her boss following a year in which he groped her, made lewd comments and proposition and in which the company did not respond to her complaints and reports of his mistreatment.  The verdict may very well be the largest in the country in a single plaintiff case.
