Age Discrimination Against 3M Settled for $12 Million

A class action age discrimination suit against 3M has been settled for $12 million.  The suit, which covers 3M employees in Minnesota, claimed that the company systematically discriminated against employees 46 and over between 2001 and 2005. The allegation was that the company believed that workers over 46 could not and would not adapt to new business practices.  The suit is Clifford L. Whitaker, et. al. v. 3M Company, 62-C4-04-012239 and is pending in Ramsey County District Court (Minnesota).
