Age Discrimination Suit Against Phone Company Settled for $1 Million

Age discrimination in the hiring of sales account representatives has led to a $1 million settlement in an age discrimination lawsuit against Cavalier Telephone Company.  The suit claimed that beginning in 2003 the company began a policy of not hiring applicants 40 and over for sales account positions. In addition, the company demoted two persons who complained of the illegal age discrimination.
