Female Police Officer Settles Sex Bias Case for $150,000

The highest-ranking female police officer in the Concord, California police department has settled her sex discrimination suit for $150,000.  Lt. Robin Heineman, a 22 year veteran, claimed in her suit that she and other female officers worked in a department run on a "presumption of male supremacy" and rife with "overt hostility toward and disparate treatment of female officers."

Previously, Lt. Heineman and other officers were part of a sex discrimination lawsuit that resulted in a $1.25 million settlement in 2001.  More recently, the Concord police department paid $750,000 to settle a sex discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by a another female officer.
