Racial Hostile Work Environment Yields $1 Million Plus Judgment

Carlota Freeman, an African-American female employee for the Whirlpool Corporation, was subjected to racial and sexual harassment by a co-worker.  She followed the company's procedures and reported this misconduct to four different managers who took no action.  Eventually, the co-worker physically assaulted her and caused her significant and permanent injuries.

A federal district judge has entered a judgment for over $1 million in Freeman's favor based on the hostile work environment and her injuries.  You can read here the Court's opinion: Freeman v. Whirlpool Corporation.
